The (new) -style originally used on Legacy and Outback has been adapted for use on the additional models listed above. PRODUCTION CHANGE INFORMATION: The new-style sensors were incorporated into production during May / June of 2015. During that production time frame, either an old-style or new-style sensor may have been installed. The starting VINs below are for vehicles identified as after the change-over to the new-style sensor. • Forester: G*406546 • Impreza: F*019429 • Crosstrek: F*296078 PART INFORMATION: The photos below show the most easily identifiable features to the Steering Angle Sensor to help differentiate between the old and new-style parts. Page 1 of 2 NEW: 27549AL000 OLD: 27589AJ000 SERVICE PROCEDURE / INFORMATION: The service procedures for diagnosing and replacing the Steering Angle Sensor are unchanged. Always refer to the applicable Service Manual and review the full requirements of the repair being performed. The Service Manual procedures contain information critical to performing an effective repair the first time and every time. This includes but is not limited to: important SAFETY precautions, proper inspection criteria, necessary special tools, required processes and any related one-time-use parts information needed for a complete and lasting repair. Customer satisfaction and retention starts with performing quality repairs. IMPORTANT: When Sensor replacement is necessary on a model applicable to this bulletin, always replace the old part with the same style as originally equipped. Once inventory of the old-style part has been exhausted, the old part number, 27589AJ000 will be superseded to 27549AL000.
