Introduction
Some 2013 – 2016 model year FR-S vehicles equipped with a manual transmission may exhibit
an abnormal noise, such as a squeak, grind or groan type noise when the clutch pedal is
depressed. Follow the procedure below to address this condition.

APPLICABLE WARRANTY
This repair is covered under the Toyota Basic Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36
months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle’s in-service date.
Warranty application is limited to occurrence of the specified condition described in
this bulletin.

Repair Procedure
1. Does the vehicle exhibit an abnormal noise, such as a squeak, grind or groan noise when the
clutch pedal is depressed?

YES – Continue to step 2.

NO – This bulletin does NOT apply. Continue diagnosis using the applicable
Repair Manual.
2. Remove the clutch release bearing assembly.
Refer to the Technical Information System (TIS), applicable model and model year
Repair Manual:
2013 / 2014 / 2015 / 2016 FR-S:
Drivetrain – Clutch – “Clutch: Clutch Unit: Removal”
3. Install the NEW clutch release bearing assembly.

Drivetrain – Clutch – “Clutch: Clutch Unit: Installation”
4. Confirm the abnormal noise is no longer present when the clutch pedal is depressed
