Additional multifunction switch for special vehicle
Details
In the course of quality observations, BMW Motorrad has established that the additional multifunction switches for special
vehicles may allow moisture in and can lead to a failure of the LIN bus. In the case of a failure the additional functions will no
longer work.
For this reason the additional multifunction switches must be replaced on all affected vehicles.

Identification of the additional multifunction switch
The additional multifunction switches are uniquely identified through a label on the housing.
The additional multifunction switches with the following identifications are OK. Only these may be installed in the course of
the Technical Campaign:
Switches with a revision index <= 57 and with a RED or BLUE dot on the
label
(rework carried out by the supplier)
Switches with a revision index >= 58 on the label

Vehicles affected
In order to determine if a specific vehicle is affected by this Technical Campaign, it will be necessary to verify all VIN’s
through a DCS Vehicle History Check. Based on the response of the system, either proceed with the repair or take no further action. Please note, affected VIN’s may not appear until 14-72 hours after the release of this bulletin.
Production Solution
K52 Special vehicles produced after 9/29/2017 have improved additional multifunction switches installed.
Service Solution
Both the left and right additional multifunction switches must be replaced according to repair procedures.
61 31 017 (Replacing the left additional multifunction switch).
61 31 020 (Replacing the right additional multifunction switch).
Warranty processing
Covered by the normal terms of the BMW New Motorcycle Limited Warranty.
