Spot welds on front side wall paneling.

- 9999 - 2017 -

Campaign No. 2018060009, June 2018
TO:
ALL MERCEDES-BENZ CENTERS
SUBJECT:
Model 906 (Sprinter), Model Year 2017
Spot Welds on Front Side Wall Paneling
Daimler AG (DAG), the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz Vans, has determined that on certain
Mercedes-Benz and Freightliner Sprinter vehicles, spot welds might be missing on the front side wall
on the driver and/or the passenger side. The affected spot welds connect the door portal with the
underlying hinge reinforcements behind. If the missing welds affect body strength, there may be an
increased risk of injury in the event of a crash. An authorized Mercedes-Benz or Freightliner Sprinter
dealer will check if any of the welds on the A-pillar are missing. If necessary, the affected vehicles will
be reworked by setting the missing weld spots at the front side wall panelling.
Prior to performing this Recall Campaign:
•
Please check VMI to determine if the vehicle is involved in the Campaign and if it has been
previously repaired.
•
Please review the entire Recall Campaign bulletin and follow the repair procedure exactly as
described.
Please note that Recall Campaigns do not expire and may also be performed on a vehicle with a
vehicle status indicator.
Approximately 153 vehicles are involved.

Check whether vehicle is affected
by measure
For authorized Mercedes‑Benz service partners, only the entry in the
"Extended VEGA Application" (EVA) system, in the "Current" tab is
decisive. An additional test of the affected vehicles in the workshop
information system (WIS) or vehicle list is thereby not necessary.
