Service Technical Information 73/18 ENU 6957 6 Symptom in Vehicle Interior - Airbag Warning Light in the Instrument Cluster Comes On (without I-no. 899): Reworking electric wire harness (SY 73/18) Model Lines: 911 Carrera (991) 718 Boxster/718 Cayman (982) Model Year: As of 2012 Equipment: All vehicles without Isofix child-seat lock on the passenger's side (I-no. 899) Subject: Airbag switch Symptom: The airbag warning light in the instrument cluster comes on. Cause: Corrosion at the connection point (TSX5) in the passenger footwell can cause the airbag warning light in the instrument cluster to come on. This warning light is accompanied by one or more of the following fault codes: • 002502: Key-operated switch circuit 1, short circuit to B+ • 002602: Key-operated switch circuit 2, short circuit to B+ Information The airbags still function without restriction. Remedial Action: Rework electric wire harness in the passenger footwell. Work Procedure: 1 Preliminary work: 1.1 Disconnect the battery. (Pins unpinned) 2.3 Re-connect electric plug connection until it locks securely. 2.4 First, insulate the three unpinned lines individually using shrink-fit hose (with adhesive), then bundle the three insulated lines together using shrink-fit hose (with adhesive). Appropriate diameter heat shrink tubing can be sourced locally. 2.5 Secure the insulated and bundled lines (Lines secured) -1- using a tie-wrap (Lines secured) -2- on the wire harness (Lines secured) -3-.
