SUBJECT: Intermittent Coolant Weepage From Upper Radiator Hose OVERVIEW: This bulletin involves installing an additional clamp on the upper radiator hose MODELS: 2015 (LA) Dodge Challenger NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles built on or after August 19, 2014 (MDH 0819XX) and on or before February 5, 2015 (MDH 0205XX) equipped with a 6.2L engine (sales codes ESD). SYMPTOM/CONDITION: A small number of customers may experience a slight coolant weepage underhood. After further inspection, the technician may notice coolant weeping from the upper radiator hose area. DIAGNOSIS: If a customer’s VIN is listed in VIP or your RRT VIN list, perform the repair. For all other customers that describe the symptom/condition listed above, perform the Repair Procedure. PARTS REQUIRED: Qty. Part No. Description 1 (AR) 68138381AA Clamp, Upper Radiator Hose REPAIR PROCEDURE: 1. Raise the hood. 07-005-15 -2- 2. If equipped, remove the impact cover located above the ABS module, See (Fig. 1), by removing the 2 push pin retainers located between the cover and the Power Distribution Center (PDC) and then sliding the cover rearward. Fig. 1 Underhood View 1 - ABS Module Impact Cover 3. Inspect the upper radiator hose and verify it is properly seated onto the radiator. The end of the hose should be tight against the stop molded onto the radiator. 4. Open the new clamp and place it over the radiator hose. The hex head of the clamp should be facing up and be oriented on the core side of the radiator. See (Fig. 2). Fig. 2 Radiator Hose Clamp Orientation -3- 07-005-15 NOTE: When installing the new clamp, the original will remain in place. The new clamp should be positioned between the existing clamp and the radiator outlet flange. Take care not to overlap the clamps. NOTE: The new clamp will have a torque limiting head. The head will break free once proper torque of 3 nm (26 in lb) is achieved. Care must be taken to ensure the socket used only engages the head of the bolt to prevent over tightening the clamp. 5. Using a 7mm shallow socket and swivel, tighten the new clamp until the torque limiting head breaks free. See (Fig. 3). Fig. 3 Hose Clamp Torque Limiting Head 1 - Before tightening 2 - After tightening 6. Install the impact cover over the ABS module. 7. Verify that the cooling system is at the proper level. Top off if necessary before proceeding. 8. Start the vehicle and allow the engine to warm up for approximately 5 minutes 9. Verify there is no coolant leaking from the upper radiator hose connection.
