LED Headlamp Deformation -Design Change

INTRODUCTION:
This bulletin outlines a design change made to the inner lens extension portion of the LED headlamp
assembly. Under the right conditions, the shape of the lens for the actual head lamp light source can
cause sunlight to be focused onto the extension portion of the lens resulting in deformation. A heatresistant shade has been added to protect the affected area.
PRODUCTION CHANGE INFORMATION:
The new headlamp assemblies were incorporated into production starting with VIN J9839581.

comparison between the new style lamp with the shade added and the original.
IMPORTANT NOTE: When replacing affected assemblies under Warranty, the “Lens and Body”
part numbers must be used for the repair NOT the complete assemblies.

SERVICE PROCEDURE / INFORMATION:
REMINDER: Customer satisfaction and retention starts with performing quality repairs.
IMPORTANT: When either headlamp is confirmed to have the described condition, BOTH left and
right must be replaced as a set.
The service procedures for headlamp replacement remain unchanged. Always refer to the applicable
Service Manual and review the full requirements of the repair being performed. The Service Manual
procedures contain information critical to performing an effective repair the first time and every
time. This includes but is not limited to: important SAFETY precautions, proper inspection criteria,
necessary special tools, required processes and related one-time-use parts needed for a complete and
lasting repair.
