TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 3.3L Duratec/3.5L EcoBoost/5.0L - Illuminated Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) - Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) P2450 And/Or P144C Built On Or Before 31-Jul-2018 18-2252 20 August 2018 Model: Ford 2018 F-150 Issue: Some 2018 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 3.3L Duratec/3.5L EcoBoost/5.0L built on or before 23-Jul-2018 at Dearborn Truck Plant or 31-Jul-2018 at Kansas City Assembly Plant may exhibit an illuminated MIL with DTC P2450 and/or P144C stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). Action: Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition. Warranty Status: Eligible Under Provisions Of New Vehicle Limited Warranty Coverage And Emissions Warranty Coverage Warranty/ESP coverage limits/policies/prior approvals are not altered by a TSB. Repair/Claim Coding Causal Part: RECALEM Condition Code: 04 Service Procedure 1. Check the vehicle build date. Is the vehicle built on or before 23-Jul-2018 at Dearborn Truck Plant or 31-Jul-2018 at Kansas City Assembly Plant? (1). Yes - proceed to Step 2. (2). No - this article does not apply. Refer to the Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) Manual for diagnostics. 2. Using the appropriate Ford diagnostic scan tool, retrieve DTCs. Is DTC P2450 and/or P144C stored in the PCM? (1). Yes - reprogram the PCM using the latest version of the appropriate Ford diagnostic scan tool. • NOTE: ADVISE THE CUSTOMER THAT THIS VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH AN ADAPTIVE TRANSMISSION SHIFT STRATEGY WHICH ALLOWS THE VEHICLE'S COMPUTER TO LEARN THE TRANSMISSION'S UNIQUE PARAMETERS AND IMPROVE SHIFT QUALITY. WHEN THE ADAPTIVE STRATEGY IS RESET, THE COMPUTER WILL BEGIN A RELEARNING PROCESS. THIS RE-LEARNING PROCESS MAY RESULT IN FIRMER THAN NORMAL UPSHIFTS AND DOWNSHIFTS FOR SEVERAL DAYS. (2).
