Condition
Customer states:
 Fuel gauge does not show full after filling up, it
only shows 5/8ths of a tank (Figure 1).
 Fuel gauge shows correct level after a short
delay.
 Fuel gauge only shows full after driving for a
short distance.
 MIL may be illuminated.

Workshop findings:
 One or more of the customer statements can be reproduced.
 If DTC P046100 is found in the ECM, check and update if necessary using TSB 2043357: “20 MIL on (DTC
P046100 - Fuel level sensor, circuit range/performance)”. If any other DTCs are found proceed with GFF and
repairs.
 If the customer’s concern included fuel gauge only showing 5/8ths after filling fuel tank, add VIN to PSS and
postpone repairs.

1.
Diagnose the vehicle according to the instructions listed below. If customer’s vehicle condition matches the
condition listed in the Technical Background of this PSS TSB, explain to the customer that a solution is
forthcoming and that no repairs are necessary at this point.
2.
Do not replace any components for this condition since this will not resolve the customer’s concern.
3.
Create a PSS record in the PSS application through the Pending Service Solutions (PSS) link in
AccessAudi (under Related Links >> Service), or through the Technical Assistance Page in Elsa.

 TSB 2043357, 20 MIL on (DTC P046100 - Fuel level sensor, circuit range/performance).
