2016 TITAN XD; BUZZ NOISE FROM SUBWOOFER

2016 Titan XD (A61) - Equipped with subwoofer
IF YOU CONFIRM
With the audio system ON, a buzz/vibration noise is coming from the subwoofer mounting
points under the passenger side seat.
NOTE: If this incident should occur,

The customer may report the noise is coming from the passenger door.

The noise may be heard inside and outside the vehicle.
ACTION
Install the new subwoofer mounting screws and grommets listed in the PARTS
INFORMATION section.

SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Remove the subwoofer.

Refer to the Electronic Service Manual (ESM): DRIVER INFORMATION &
MULTIMEDIA > AUDIO, VISUAL & NAVIGATION SYSTEM > NAVIGATION WITH
AMPLIFIER > REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION > SUBWOOFER > Removal and
Installation.
2. Remove the grommets shown in Figure 1.

Refer to grommet removal steps on the next page.

a. Use a 5/16 drill bit to remove
material from the center of each
grommet.
Figure 2
b. Use a plastic trim tool to raise the
edge of the grommets.
c. Grab the edge of the grommet with
needle nose pliers.

Be careful not to scratch the
paint with the needle nose pliers.

d. Pull the grommet out.


3. Install new grommets.

New grommets are listed in the PARTS INFORMATION section.

To install, push them into the existing holes.
4. Use new course threaded screws to reinstall the subwoofer.

New screws are listed in the PARTS INFORMATION section.
5. Re-install other removed parts in reverse order.
