Introduction
Some 2017 – 2018 model year Tundra vehicles may exhibit a “no click” or a “no spring return”
condition from the fuel cap when fully seated and sealed. In some vehicles, the fuel cap may be
contacting the fuel filler neck, leading to this condition. Follow the Repair Procedure in this bulletin
to address this condition.

APPLICABLE WARRANTY
 This repair is covered under the Toyota Basic Warranty. This warranty is in effect for
36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle’s in-service date.
 Warranty application is limited to occurrence of the specified condition described in
this bulletin.
 For California specification vehicles sold, registered, and operated in California, Connecticut,
Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania,
Rhode Island, Vermont and Washington, this repair is covered under the California Emission
Warranty for 36 months or 50,000 miles from the vehicle's in-service date, whichever
occurs first.

Repair Procedure
1. Confirm the condition exists.
Remove and reinstall the fuel cap.
A. Does the fuel cap exhibit a “no click” or a “no spring return” condition?
 YES — Continue to substep B.
 NO — This bulletin does NOT apply. Continue diagnosis using the applicable
Repair Manual.
B. Does the fuel cap exhibit contact with the fuel filler neck as shown?
 YES — Continue to step 2.
 NO — This bulletin does NOT apply. Continue diagnosis using the applicable
Repair Manual.

2. Remove the fuel filler neck.

3. Install the NEW fuel filler neck and fuel cap.
Refer to TIS, applicable model and model year Repair Manual:
 2016 – 2018 Tundra:
Engine/Hybrid System – Fuel System – “1UR-FE / 3UR-FBE / 3UR-FE Fuel:
Fuel Tank: Installation”
4. Confirm proper vehicle operation.
A. Confirm the fuel cap “click” or “spring return.”
B. Using the Techstream Utility, perform an Evaporative System Check and verify NO EVAP
codes are present.
