1. When no other fault codes stored.
• Customer has seen no performance issues.
OR
2. When any of the following fault codes are stored.
44D141 – transmission monitoring: Clutch A and D implausible
44D0E1 – transmission monitoring: Clutch B implausible
44D191 – transmission monitoring: Clutch C and D implausible
44D151 – transmission monitoring: Clutch A and E implausible
44D0D1 – transmission monitoring: Clutch A implausible
44CFB1 – transmission monitoring: Clutch A, D and E implausible
44CFD1 – transmission monitoring: Fault pattern – gear monitoring implausible
And possibly:
• Customer reports harsh shifting
• Check Control message “Drivetrain malfunction”

1. Delete the fault memory.
2. Follow ISTA/D instruction.
PROCEDURE
For conditions that are similar to the situation described:
Using ISTA/D, check the fault memory of the transmission control unit. Is the only stored fault
code “44E4D1 – Hybrid sequence control system (HAS): Monitoring the EM actual engine
speed to ensure the oil supply”? YES- Delete the fault memory. No additional repair is required.
Note: Erroneous FC 44E4D1 entries will be blocked in the future when vehicle is
reprogrammed via ISTA 4.02.20.
NO – Continue diagnosis with ISTA/D. Submit ZF TeileClearing PuMA case if required.

• Please claim these consequential control module repair work under the defect code listed in this
bulletin with the applicable KSD2 labor operations.

Other Repairs
Control module failures that occurred prior to this programming and/or additional work that is
performed as a result of performing the ISTA diagnostics, the related test plans and/or as
instructed through a PuMA case:
• When covered under an applicable limited warranty, claim the control module and/or other repairs
using the applicable defect code and labor operations in KSD2.
