After the vehicle is driven a short distance, the fuel gauge will update to full. When diagnosed, the following fault is stored in the DME: z FC 193208 Fuel level, plausibility: deviation between consumption and level change Please proceed to the Procedure section. Vehicles with option 610 (Head-Up Display) are not affected. Please follow the ISTA/D test plan for the applicable faults stored in the DME, including the one listed in this bulletin. CAUSE A software error in the instrument cluster causes the fuel gauge to incorrectly update while refilling. The error occurs when the vehicle is powered up after refilling. PROCEDURE When FC 193208 is found stored in the DME: F06, F07, F10, F12, F13, F15, F16 and F25 only: Program the vehicle using the latest version of ISTA/P (3.55.0 or higher). F Series Target Integration Level F06, F07, F10, F12, F13 F010-15-03-501 or higher F25 F025-15-02-501 or higher Note that ISTA/P will automatically reprogram and code all programmable control modules that do not have the latest software. F30, F31, F32, F34 and F36 only: A software correction in ISTA/P will not be available until August 2015. Please advise the customer to follow the procedure described below when refueling his or her vehicle. 1. Turn the engine and ignition off. 2. Push the radio volume control knob once. The radio screen will illuminate and the audio will be heard. 3. Refuel the vehicle while the radio is active. 4. When the refueling is completed, start the vehicle and resume normal vehicle operation. WARRANTY INFORMATION Covered under the terms of the BMW New Vehicle/SAV Limited Warranty or the BMW Certified Pre-Owned Limited Warranty. All (Diagnosis) Defect Code: 62 11 06 18 00 Labor Operation: Labor Allowance: Description: 00 00 006 Refer to KSD2 Performing “vehicle test” (with vehicle diagnosis system – checking faults) Refer to KSD2 Connect an approved battery charger/power supply (indicated in KSD 2 as Charging battery) And: 61 21 528 Labor operation code 00 00 006 is a Main labor operation. If you are using a Main labor code for another repair, use the Plus code labor operation 00 00 556 instead. F06, F07, F10, F12, F13 and F25 Only (Programming and Encoding) Labor Operation: Labor Allowance: Description: 61 00 730 Refer to KSD2 Programming/encoding control unit(s) Refer to KSD2 for the corresponding flat rate unit (FRU) allowance. Enter the Chassis Number, which consists of the last 7 digits of the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). Click on the “Search” button, and then enter the applicable flat rate labor operation in the FR code field. Repairs to control modules and components with pre-existing conditions are not eligible to be claimed under the defect code listed in this bulletin. Other Repairs If performing ISTA diagnostics and related test plans results in other eligible and covered work, claim this work with the applicable defect code and labor operations listed in KSD2.
