Page 1 of 2 SI B11 11 15 Engine June 2015 Technical Service SUBJECT Service Action: Replace the Thermostat MODEL F10 (5 Series Sedan) SITUATION The Service Engine Soon light is on with corresponding fault codes in the DME for the engine thermostat. AFFECTED VEHICLES This Service Action involves certain F10 vehicles produced from August 2011 to July 2013. Vehicles which require this Service Action to be completed will show it as “Open” when checked either in the "Service Menu" of DCSnet (Dealer Communication System) or with the Key Reader. PROCEDURE Replace the engine thermostat. Follow Repair Instruction RS 11 53 000, “Removing and installing/replacing coolant thermostat (N20, N26).” PARTS INFORMATION P/N 11 53 8 657 053, as specified and listed in this Service Information bulletin below, must be ordered and installed for this Service Action. Performing a part number look-up in ETK by VIN or model will result in the wrong part being invoiced and installed. The part number in ETK will not satisfy completion of this Service Action. And: Sublet - Coolant Sublet Code 4 Reimbursement for replacing the drained quantity of antifreeze/coolant See sublet (bulk container reference BMW P/N reimbursement 82 14 1 467 704, one gallon calculation below container. Do not use this part number for claim submission.) Sublet calculation: Reimbursement for replacing the drained quantity of antifreeze/coolant (1 gallon bulk container reference P/N 82 14 1 467 704, 50/50 mixture) at dealer net plus handling. Enter this material cost in sublet and itemize the amount in the claim comment section.
