SUBJECT
Halogen Headlight Side Bulbs Fail

SITUATION
The check control message (CCM) “Parking lamp malfunction: Consult service center” is displayed when the
vehicle is started.
CAUSE
Defective side light bulb on one or both sides
CORRECTION
To improve customer satisfaction and avoid repeat visits, replace both sides at the same time with a long-life
12V 6W halogen bulb.
Note: This only applies to the first repair visit for this issue. For a subsequent failure, only replace the bulb
that has failed.
Follow REP 63 99 132, “Replacing bulb for side lights, front left or right,” or follow the next steps:
The F30 is used for the following procedure. There may be minor differences for the other models.
Turn the protective cap (1)
counterclockwise and remove.
Installation note:
To avoid a water leak, check that the
seal in the protective cap is installed
properly (1).
Turn the protective cap (1) clockwise
to the limit.
Turn the bulb holder (1) left and then
pull it up out of the headlight in the
direction of the arrow.
Installation note:
Make sure the bulb holder (1) is seated

exactly in the headlight.
Important!
Do not touch glass bulbs with bare
hands, as even the smallest amount of
contamination will burn in and reduce
the bulb’s service life.
Only touch light bulbs with clean
gloves or a clean cloth.
Turn the side light bulb (1) in the
direction of the arrow and then pull it
out of the bulb holder.
Installation note:
12V 6W halogen long-life bulb
Recheck the light operation.
