SUBJECT
Band Clamp for Exhaust Front Pipe Is Loose
MODEL
F30 (3 Series Sedan)
F31 (3 Series Sports Wagon)
F25 (X3)
With the N47T diesel engine
SITUATION
There is a rattle coming from the front of the exhaust system when the engine is running, or the exhaust system is
leaking at the area of the front pipe to diesel particulate filter (DPF) connection.
CAUSE
The band clamp holding the exhaust front pipe to the DPF has come loose.
CORRECTION
The band clamp (1) is a one-time use
only part. It must be replaced after any
work performed that requires removal
of the exhaust. The clamp will not
hold its tightening torque when reused.
