This article supersedes TSB 17-2186 to update the vehicle model years affected.
Issue: Some 2016-1018 Police Interceptor Sedan vehicles equipped with a 3.5L/3.7L Twin independent Variable
Camshaft Timing (Ti-VCT) engine may exhibit an inoperative police option accessory that requires a hardwired
vehicle speed signal.
Action: Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

Service Procedure
1. Is the accessory connected to circuit VMC05 for vehicle speed signal? Refer to Wiring Diagram, Cell 24-13.
(1). Yes - proceed to Step 2.
(2). No - this article does not apply.
2. Replace the powertrain control module (PCM). Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-14.
3. Program the PCM using the latest software level of the appropriate Ford diagnostic scan tool.
(1). NOTE: ADVISE THE CUSTOMER THAT THIS VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH AN ADAPTIVE
TRANSMISSION SHIFT STRATEGY WHICH ALLOWS THE VEHICLE'S COMPUTER TO LEARN THE
TRANSMISSION'S UNIQUE PARAMETERS AND IMPROVE SHIFT QUALITY. WHEN THE ADAPTIVE
STRATEGY IS RESET, THE COMPUTER WILL BEGIN A RE-LEARNING PROCESS. THIS RE-LEARNING
PROCESS MAY RESULT IN FIRMER THAN NORMAL UPSHIFTS AND DOWNSHIFTS FOR SEVERAL DAYS.
