Service Technical Information 69/18 ENU WJ38 6 WJ38 - Checking Presence of Front Covers (Fins) and Removing if Necessary (Workshop Campaign) Vehicle Type: 911 GT3 (991) Model Year: 2018 Equipment: Touring package (I-no. 039) Subject: Front covers (fins) Information: Due to an allocation error in the parts list, the affected vehicles with the optional Touring package (I-no. 039) were supplied with front covers (fins) and these were fitted in the front wheel housing during the sales check although the covers were not intended for this optional equipment. Installation of the covers can cause a slight change in GT3 Touring-specific vehicle handling. Remedial Action: To ensure customer satisfaction and standardize the standard version, the following steps must be carried out: • • • Affected Vehicles: Checking presence of front covers (fins) and removing if necessary Replacing both front wheel housing liners (rear part) (only if required) Replacing front underbody cover (only if required) Only the vehicles assigned to the campaign (see also PIWIS Vehicle information). This campaign affects 8 vehicles in North America. (only if required) AfterSales Service Technical Information 69/18 ENU WJ38 6 Required tools Tools: • Torque wrench, 1.5 – 3 Nm (1 - 2 ftlb.), e.g. VAS 6494 - Torque screwdriver Checking for presence of front covers (fins) Work Procedure: 1 2 Turn the steering fully to the right. Check whether the fins are attached in the underbody area in the left and right wheel housing. • • 3 Fin is not fitted: The vehicle complies with specifications. End of action required. Continue with Step 3. Fin is fitted: The vehicle does not comply with specifications. The fins must be removed. To do this, continue with Technical Information 'Removing front covers (fin)' Enter the campaign in the Warranty and Maintenance booklet.
