Topic number LI88.40-P-068899 Version 1 Function group 88.40 Engine hood, front flap Date 10-05-2018 Validity As of SOP BR 213 / 238 Reason for change Reason for block Complaint: Fault message in instrument cluster "Hood open" Cause: In isolated cases it is possible that, due to tolerance variations between the components (hood, hood catch, lock striker, stop buffer), the hood catch may only appear to be engaged and therefore the customer sees the fault message "Hood open" in the instrument cluster while driving. Remedy: In these cases it is not necessary to replace components. Remedy: Modify the hood at the front above the stop buffer and the lock striker as described in document AR88.40-P-3020LW from step 18-24. When handing over the vehicle, show the customer that the hood closes correctly.
