High Voltage Battery - Charging Cable Cannot be Locked or Unlocked One of the following customer concerns is present: The plug connector of a charging cable cannot be locked to the socket (cannot charge battery). OR The plug connector of a charging cable cannot be unlocked from the socket (cannot remove plug). If the plug connector cannot be unlocked, the following fault will be stored in the charge manager module -J966(diagnostic address BD): P33E800 – Charge socket A, charge connector lock mechanical malfunction Tip: To diagnose the lock pin with no DTC present, watch the lock pin carefully while inserting the plug of a functional and powered charge cable into the socket. If the pin can be seen to move, but doesn’t successfully reach the locked position, then charging will not occur. Technical Bulletin Service Note: If applicable, please ensure any one time use part or parts are replaced in accordance with the repair manual information in Elsa. Replace the High-Voltage Charging Connector Lock 1 Adjuster -F498-. Replace the actuator -F498- (Figure 1) according to the repair manual and parts information table. Route repair wires and locate new connector as shown (Figure 2). Note: Step-by-step instructions, including important torque specifications for this repair are given in the repair manual (ElsaPro). Be sure to refer only to NAR-version AC-DC combo socket repair instructions for correct information. WARNING: There is a risk of fatal injury due to high voltage. Electrocution can cause death or very serious personal injury. Have a qualified technician de-energize the high-voltage system.
