Background
American Honda Motor Co., Inc. (AHM) is investigating certain 2015-2019 TLXs with a client complaint of the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) on with DTC P0420
(Rear Bank Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold [Bank 2]) and/or P0430 (Front Bank Catalyst Sytem Efficiency Below Threshold [Bank 2]) stored. To fully
understand the cause of this condition, AHM would like to inspect the vehicle prior to you attempting a repair of any kind.
Qualifiers
AHM is interested ONLY if the vehicle meets the following requirements:
1. DTC P0420 only or both P0420 and P0430 must be stored (not P0430 alone).
2. Mileage must be less than 80,000 miles.
3. Vehicle must have the updated software from the SB 17-034 (Front Bank Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold [Bank 2]).
4. Coolant temperature must have been over 80F when the DTC was set.
5. No repair has been attempted for this issue during the current visit.

If you have or know of such a vehicle, please call the Technical Research & Support (TRS) Group at
800-880-1072. TRS will need to record certain vehicle information and provide you with further instructions.
