Verification
• Verify engine is equipped with water pump option WP97864 & WP97865
• Backside idler pulley and/or bracket has malfunctioned.
Reason for Change
Backside idler pulley can experience malfuntions. This change reverts to a prior

arrangement that is more robust.
Resolution
• Remove backside idler pulley and bracket and install new accesory drive belt. See
Service Instructions section below.

Figure 1, Capscrew Locations with Idler Pulley Bracket Installed
Remove
1. Remove accessory drive belt.
◦ See corresponding Service Manual. Reference Procedure 008-002.
2. Remove capscrews at locations 1, 2, and 3. See Figure 1 above.
3. Remove any broken capscrews, if necessary.
4. Discard accessory drive belt, cap screws, idler pulley, and bracket.

Figure 2, Capscrew Locations with Idler Pulley Bracket Removed
Install
1. Install the long replacement capscrew, Part Number 3926863, at location 1. See
Figure 2 above. Torque to 24N·m [ 212 in-lbs ].
2. Install the two short replacement capscrews, Part Number 5261711 at locations 2
and 3. Torque to 24N·m [ 212 in-lbs ].
3. Install new accessory drive belt, Part Number 3978284.
