Complaint:
Cracking noises or squeaking noises at the doors in the area of the window frame while driving, especially when driving on rough roads.
Cause:
The noises may be caused by the window guide rails rubbing on the body shell.
Remedy:
1. Localize source of noise along contact area of window guide rail on bodyshell by taping up with masking tape, see
Figures 1 and 2 (example of front door).
1.1 If the noise is still present after taping, look for the source of noise elsewhere.
1.2 If the noise is no longer present after taping, remove masking tape and continue with step 2.
2. Check door adjustment and adjust if necessary.
3. If the noises continue to occur, the window guide rail must be replaced.
