Tech Tip T-TT-0372-15 December 17, 2015 Subject Market ZE7 Best Practice - Additional Dowel Pins Required For New Shortblocks USA Service Category Section Vehicle Interior Meter/Gauge/Display Applicability Eligible Vehicles for ZE7 SPA APPLICABLE VEHICLES 2007-2009 2009-2013 2009-2011 Camry Matrix Corolla 2006-2008 2007-2008 2007-2011 RAV4 Solara Camry HV CONDITION In certain cases, vehicles undergoing the ZE7 AZ Oil Consumption repair procedure will require a short block replacement. Currently, when a new short block assembly is ordered for a vehicle, dowels pins connecting the short block to the crankcase stiffener are not present. If you are performing a short block replacement under ZE7, please order the following parts in addition to the short block, and install in the new short block upon receipt. Part Number 90250-08074 Description Pin, Dowel Cylinder Head Qty. Required Per Repair 1 Package (2 pieces) These changes will be reflected in the next revision of the Technical Service Bulletin (TSB). Installation locations are shown below. RECOMMENDATIONS Install dowel pins type “B” in new short block before reassembling engine. Picture located on following page.
