The seat cushion outer finisher is loose and will not stay snapped into place.
ACTION
Replace the affected “seat cushion outer finisher” and the “seat cushion inner finisher” with
those listed in the Parts Information.

information that is essential to successfully completing this repair.

SERVICE PROCEDURE
WARNING: This procedure involves working under the driver or front passenger seat. The
metal seat frame has sharp edges.
CAUTION: Handle interior trim carefully to avoid damage. Work with clean hands and clean
tools to avoid dirt and stains.
IMPORTANT: Follow all cautions, warnings, and notes in the Electronic Service Manual
(ESM) when working on or near a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), such as an air
bag or OCS components.
NOTE: Zero Point Reset needs to be performed after a passenger side seat is re-installed.
The following Figures are of a climate controlled driver’s “seat cushion outer finisher”.
Passenger seats and seats without climate control are similar.
1. Raise the height of the affected seat all the way to the highest lifter position.
2. Remove the affected seat from the vehicle.

Refer to the ESM for seat removal; BODY INTERIOR > SEAT > REMOVAL AND
INSTALLATION > FRONT SEAT > Removal and Installation.
3. Place the seat on a clean work surface.

4. Remove both of the seat cushion front
finisher screws shown in Figure 1.

5. Detach the seat cushion front finisher
from the seat cushion outer finisher.

6. Remove the front screw from the seat
cushion outer finisher.
NOTE: The screw is shown on the left
hand side for the driver’s seat Figure 3.
Passenger seats will have this screw on
the right hand side.

7. Detach the seat cushion outer finisher
from the seat frame and the seat cushion
inner finisher.

8. Disconnect the wire harnesses from the seat cushion outer finisher.

Place the seat cushion outer finisher aside. The seat switch and knobs will be
transferred to the new finisher later in this procedure.

J-Clip
9. Detach the seat cushion outside J-Clip
shown in Figure 6 from the seat frame.
NOTE:

The J-Clip is on the same side as
the seat cushion outer finisher that
was just removed.

The left hand J-Clip is shown for
the driver’s seat. The passenger
seat is similar, but the J-Clip is on
the right hand side of the seat.

10. Turn the seat upside down so the bottom can be reached.
11. Detach the carpet strap clip (Figure 9) from the seat frame or the seat spring; see page 5.

The carpet strap clip is behind the driver seat control unit in Figure 8.

Figures 10-12 on the next page show different styles of carpet strap attachment.

12. Pull the carpet strap out from between
the driver’s seat control unit and the
lower seat cushion, and then lay on rear
of seatback.

13. Tuck the carpet strap into the map

17. Unhook the seat cushion trim tabs from
the lower seat frame where shown in

the seat bottom to the seat frame.

18. Unzip both the left and the right sides of
the seat frame assembly cover.

CAUTION:
 Be careful when unzipping. The
zipper may come apart if forced or
operated aggressively.
 If the zipper comes apart, the seat
assembly will need to be replaced.
IMPORTANT: All trim claimed under
warranty may be requested to be
returned to NNA for inspection. If it is
damaged due to service mishandling
the claim will be rejected.

19. Fold the rear cover of the seat frame
assembly out of the way.
20. Unclip the air bag harness from the seat
assembly frame at the two (2) points
shown in Figure 20.

21. Pull the seat frame assembly cover and
the seat cushion trim material through
the gap between the seat bottom and the
seat back.

22. Pull the seat bottom and the seat back
cushion foam away from their frames.


finisher to be removed in the next

23. Rotate the seat cushion inner finisher and then remove it through the gap between the
seat bottom and the seat back.

24. Install the “new style” seat cushion inner finisher from the Parts Information (Figure 24) by
inserting it through the gap between the seat bottom and the seat back and then rotating it
into place.

Refer to Figures 22 and 23.

Figures 24 and 25 show the difference between the new and old style seat cushion
inner finisher.

25. Realign the seatback and the seat bottom cushions with their frames.
26. If so equipped, confirm that the thermal electric device nozzle is correctly aligned (Figures
26 and 27).

27. Pull the seat frame assembly cover and
the seat cushion trim material back
through the gap between the seat bottom
and the seat back (Figure 28).

32. Remove the seat switch knobs and then
the seat switch from the old seat cushion
outer finisher.


The seat switch is attached to the
seat cushion outer finisher with four
(4) tabs.

33. Snap the seat switch into the new seat
cushion outer finisher.

See the Parts Information for the new
seat cushion outer finisher.

34. If the seat has an optional lumbar switch, transfer the switch to the new seat cushion
outer finisher.

Release the switch by depressing the two (2) retention tabs toward the switch. (Figure
35).
NOTE: The lumbar switch button does not detach from the switch.

35. Transfer the seat switch knobs from the old seat switch to the new one.
36. Connect the wire harnesses (disconnected in step 8) to the new seat cushion outer
finisher switches. (Refer to Figure 5).

37. Install the new seat cushion outer finisher
onto the seat frame and snap into the
seat cushion inner finisher.

38. Confirm that the seat cushion inner
finisher and the seat cushion outer
finisher are completely snapped together.
IMPORTANT: Confirm that there are no
gaps between the seat cushion inner and
the outer finishers before proceeding.

39. Fold the seat frame assembly rear cover
back into place (Figure 38).
40. Zip closed both the left and the right
sides of the seat frame assembly cover.

Pull the trim together ahead of the
zipper as it is closed (to relieve
tension on the zipper).

and attach to the seat frame assembly.

45. Fold the carpet strap back into place across the underside of the seat bottom (Figure 45),
and then attach the carpet strap clip (Figure 46) to the seat frame.

Refer to Figures 10, 11 and 12 on page 5 for different styles of carpet strap
attachment.

46. Turn the seat right side up.
47. Install the front screw of the seat cushion
outer finisher.
NOTE: The screw is shown on the left
hand side for the driver’s seat Figure 47.

48. Attach the seat cushion front finisher to
the seat cushion outer finisher.

50. Reinstall the seat into the vehicle.

Refer to the ESM for seat installation; BODY INTERIOR > SEAT > REMOVAL AND
INSTALLATION > FRONT SEAT > Removal and Installation.

Torque the seat bolts in the order shown
in Figure 51 (as it applies).

Seat bolt torque: 49 N•m (5.0 kg-m, 36 ftlbs)

51. Perform Zero Point Reset to the passenger seat, if it was removed.


52. Lower the height of the seat, back to its original position.
