TIS Service Bulletin Page 1 of 3 SI B61 15 18 General Electrical Systems November 2018 Technical Service DELIVERY STOP: PROGRAM BODY DOMAIN CONTROLLER (BDC) New information provided by this revision is preceded by this symbol . Please perform the procedure outlined in this Service Information on all affected vehicles before customer delivery. In the event the customer has already taken delivery of the vehicle, please perform the procedure the next time the vehicle is in the shop. This Service Information bulletin replaces SI B61 15 18 dated October 2018 What’s New: • Service Action wording removed • Note added about using ICOM NEXT when programming MODEL G05 ( X5) G15 (8 Series Coupe) AFFECTED VEHICLES This Service Action involves G05 (X5) and G15 (8 Series Coupe) vehicles produced from November 3rd 2017 to October 13th 2018. Vehicles which require this Delivery Stop to be completed will show it as “Open” when checked either in AIR, the "Service Menu" of DCSnet (Dealer Communication System) or with the Key Reader. SITUATION In case of a rollover-crash, the doors should be locked after the crash and only unlocked after 6 s. In case of a frontal crash, the doors should be unlocked after 160 milliseconds. Due to software errors in the Body Domain Controller (BDC) a rollover-crash leads to an immediate unlocking (after 30 milliseconds) and in a frontal crash the doors are unlocked only after 300 milliseconds. CAUSE BDC software error CORRECTION Update the BDC software https://www.bmwtis.net/tiscode/cgi-bin/bulletin.aspx?sie_path=/tsb/bulletins/htm_store/48... 12/3/2018 TIS Service Bulletin Page 2 of 3 PROCEDURE Program the vehicle using ISTA 4.14.14 or higher (released Friday October 26th 2018). Use the ICOM NEXT when programming any G Series vehicles. Using the old ICOM may cause programming failures. If this happens switch to an ICOM NEXT. Select the failed module for manually programming and coding (Vehicle management -> Software Update -> Expanded). This should successfully recover the failed module. Model Target Integration level G05 and G15 S18A-18-11-523 or higher Note that ISTA will automatically reprogram and code all programmable control modules that do not have the latest software. Always connect a BMW approved battery charger/power supply (SI B04 23 10 ). For information on programming and coding with ISTA, refer to Centernet / TIS / Technical Documentation / Programming.
