Concern
The customer complains that particular KESSY features (usually keyless entry and keyless locking) do not function on at least one remote
key. The key still functions for remote unlocking and locking. In other
words, the vehicle functions normally if the customer presses the
unlock or lock buttons on the remote key. The workshop confirms this
behavior.
This issue is found on replacement keys and not on the original keys
from the factory. The nonfunctioning replacement key is marked with
the model designation “PK1”. (See figure 1.) A fully functional key
with have the model designation “PK3”. (See figure 2.)

Technical Background
There is a mismatch between parts distribution and stock coding for
vehicles with KESSY. PK1 keys will not necessarily work with a KESSY
system. This symptom will be persistent (not intermittent). Only PK3
keys will have KESSY function with all typical coding combinations.
PK1 and PK3 keys have different part numbers. In the parts catalog,
there is no distinction made between KESSY and non-KESSY keys.
