Issue: Some 2018 F-150 and 2018-2019 Mustang vehicles equipped with a 5.0L engine may exhibit an illuminated
MIL with DTCs P0390 and/or P0394 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM).
Action: Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

Service Procedure
1. Using the appropriate Ford diagnostic scan tool or equivalent, retrieve DTCs. Are DTCs P0390 and/or P0394 the
only DTCs stored in the PCM?
(1). Yes - proceed to Step 2.
(2). No - this article does not apply. Refer to the Powertrain Controls/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) Manual for
normal diagnostics.
2. Replace the bank 2 exhaust variable camshaft timing (VCT) oil control solenoid. Refer to Workshop Manual
(WSM), Section 303-14.
