Cause This may be due to newer cell phones not being compatible with the first generation (GEN I) wireless charging system. Copyright 2018 General Motors LLC. All Rights Reserved. Page 2 December, 2018 Service Procedure Important: Before performing any repairs, dealers should reference previous GM Service Bulletin 17-NA-142 to check phone compatibility and validate the function of the wireless device charger with special tool EL 51755-A. Before any further steps are taken, dealers should confirm that the vehicle is equipped with K4C or 5ZI, the GEN I wireless charging system is operating as intended, and if the customers phone is compatible with the GEN I wireless charging system. If equipped with K4C or 5ZI, the system is operating as intended and the customer’s phone is not compatible, then the dealer can offer the customer to purchase a GEN II wireless charging retrofit kit, P/N 84526978. The suggested list price is $99.00 (USD). Dealers in Canada should refer to GMCC suggested list price. The GEN II wireless charging system is compatible with the latest cell phones, and is intended to wirelessly charge without a cell phone protective cover. Due to various sizes and styles of cell phone protective covers, GM cannot guarantee that a cell phone with a cover installed will wirelessly charge. Bulletin No.: 18-NA-153 Upgrading to a GEN II wireless charging system will not change the dimensions of the charging pocket or pad. If the customer’s phone does not fit in the GEN I wireless charging configuration, it will not fit in the GEN II wireless charging configuration. Note: This kit is intended as customer pay and will not be allowed under warranty.
