Condition
In some rare situations, a customer may comment on a "Service Brake Assist"
message and they may have a hard brake pedal or increased e ort is needed to
depress the brake pedal, which may extend stopping distances. When checking for
DTC's, a current or history C0021, C05B0, and/or C058E will be set in the K160 Brake
System Control Module (formerly known as the EBCM). When the EBCM DTCs are
set, it will request the SES MIL and the ECM will set DTC P25A2 (Brake System
Control Module Requested MIL Illumination).
Cause
This issue could be caused by an internal software calibration.
Correction:
Engineering has released updated Brake System Control Module calibrations to address this condition.
Reprogram the K160 Brake System Control Module with the latest calibrations currently available in Tis2Web, per
Service Update N192210460.
Important: Stable battery voltage is critical during programming. Any uctuation, spiking, over voltage or loss of
voltage will interrupt programming. Install the EL-49642 SPS Programming Support Tool to maintain system
voltage. If not available, connect a fully charged 12 V jumper or booster pack disconnected from the AC voltage
supply. DO NOT connect a battery charger.
