Complaint:
Interior lighting inoperative when a door is opened, fault code 9042 or 90B5 present in SAM control unit.
Cause:
Fault code 90B5 (control unit is defective because the short circuit counter of the interior lighting has exceeded the
maximum permissible number of short circuits) or fault code 9042 (front interior lights, short circuit to positive) is present in the SAM control unit with software release 906 902 75 00 and object number:

A 906 900 45 00 (SAM Min),
A 906 900 46 00 (SAM Low),
A 906 900 47 00 (SAM Medium),
A 906 900 48 00 (SAM High).
Remedy:
1. Program SAM control unit if the following conditions are met:

Software release 906 902 75 00 in SAM control unit,
fault code 9042 or 90B5 set in SAM control unit.
Note: If the action in step 1 is not successful, continue with operation step 2.
2. Replace SAM control unit. The new SAM control unit matches the current hardware and software version.
Important: After installation, use the vehicle diagnosis system to perform software calibration number (SCN) coding
via the path "SAM->Control unit adaptations->SCN coding"!
Do not launch a software update via the menu item "Control unit programming" or "Commissioning" in the vehicle diagnosis system!
Note: The correct part number of the SAM control unit must be determined in the Electronic Parts Catalog (EPC) via
the affected chassis number.
