DESCRIPTION:
The information contained here is to be used to troubleshoot Evaporative Emission leaks in SPA vehicle
(ECM-DTC-P044200)
If you receive a customer complaint of a Check Engine Light on for ECM-DTC P044200, please follow
the diagnostics steps listed below. There is also a video and diagnostic aid that will further assist with a
successful diagnostic session and repair of this complaint.
1. Perform the Quick Test of the EVAP system in VIDA. See attached diagnostic guide for additional
details pertaining to this test (Component > Engine Control Unit > Diagnostic Sequences > EVAP
Quick Test)
2. If the DTC was stored it is necessary to perform a Smoke (pressure) test of the system. Please
connect the smoke tester as per VIDA instructions (Include path to test in VIDA)
Before performing the smoke test, please watch attached video
3. If the smoke is not clearly visible at any components or connections, it may be necessary to spray
all visible connections and/or openings with soapy water to locate the leak. If the leak is located,
perform the necessary repair to resolve the leak.
4. After making the necessary repair, perform a 2nd EVAP quick test to ensure system is leak tight.
**NOTE**
Leak shown in the attached video was created for illustration purposes. This is not a typical leak.
SERVICE:
If a leak is found, perform necessary repairs.
VEHICLE REPORT:
