Service Bulletin 19-034 April 6, 2019 Version 1 2013-15 Accord: Engine Will Not Start with DTC P2101 AFFECTED VEHICLES Year Model Trim VIN Range 2013-15 Accord (L4 only) ALL (KL) (L4 only) ALL SYMPTOM The engine will not start and sets DTC P2101 (electronic throttle control system [ETCS] malfunction). POSSIBLE CAUSES The throttle body contains heavier than normal carbon buildup. CORRECTIVE ACTION Update the PGM-FI software. WARRANTY CLAIM INFORMATION The normal warranty applies. If there is a problem with the update, leave the ignition turned to ON. • To prevent control unit damage, do not operate anything electrical (headlights, audio system, brakes, A/C, power windows, door locks, etc.) during the update. • Do not use the MongoosePro VCI tool. 1. Select the i-HDS icon from the Desktop. 2. On the HOME menu, select J2534 Rewrite icon. Page 3 of 7 3. Select Start. Do not enter a service bulletin number. NOTE Under certain conditions the HOME menu screen may pop back up, if it does, just minimize the screen to show the screen below. Page 4 of 7 4. Connect to a vehicle and select Start to begin reprogramming. 5. Follow the screen prompts, then select Next. Page 5 of 7 6. Enter the VIN and repair order. Then select Next. 7. Select the system you want to update, then Select. NOTE Wait until vehicle communication has completed. Page 6 of 7 8. Confirm the update information, and select ENTER to start reprogramming. 9. The control module update is now completed. 10. Do the PCM idle learn procedure (refer to the service information). END Page 7 of 7
