Page 1 of 2 192116 TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN Illuminated MIL With DTC P0128 - Built On Or Before 19-Feb-2019 16 April 2019 Model: Ford 2016-2019 Fiesta Issue: Some 2016-2019 Fiesta vehicles with a 1.6L twin independent variable cam timing (Ti-VCT) engine built on or before 19-Feb-2019 may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0128 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to some PCM software parameters related to engine temperature. To resolve the condition, reprogram the PCM. Action: Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition on vehicles that meet all of the following criteria: • 2016-2019 Fiesta • 1.6L Ti-VCT engine • Built on or before 19-Feb-2019 • The only DTC stored in the PCM is P0128 Warranty Status: Eligible Under Provisions Of New Vehicle Limited Warranty Coverage And Emissions Warranty Coverage Warranty/ESP coverage limits/policies/prior approvals are not altered by a TSB. Warranty/ESP coverage limits are determined by the identified causal part and verified using the OASIS part coverage tool. Reprogram the PCM to the latest calibration using the latest software level of the appropriate Ford diagnostic scan tool. NOTE: ADVISE THE CUSTOMER THAT THIS VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH AN ADAPTIVE TRANSMISSION SHIFT STRATEGY WHICH ALLOWS THE VEHICLE'S COMPUTER TO LEARN THE TRANSMISSION'S UNIQUE PARAMETERS AND IMPROVE SHIFT QUALITY. WHEN THE ADAPTIVE STRATEGY IS RESET, THE COMPUTER WILL BEGIN A RELEARNING PROCESS.
