TIS Service Bulletin Page 1 of 3 SI B66 01 19 Drivers Assistance, Remote Control Systems April 2019 Technical Service CHECK CONTROL MESSAGE PARKING ASSISTANCE RESTRICTED This Service Information bulletin replaces SI B66 01 19 dated April 2019 What’s New: • Deleted all references to car wash MODEL G05 (X5 Sports Activity G07 (X7 SAV) Vehicle) G20 (3 Series Sedan) G14 (8 Series Convertible) G15 (8 Series Coupe) G29 (Z4 Roadster) SITUATION Upon activation of the Park Distance Control (PDC) or Parking Assistant, a Check Control Message (CCM) “Restricted parking assistance” may be displayed Only vehicles equipped with any of these option codes are affected: 0508 Park Distance Control (PDC); available on all models either as standard or optional equipment 05DM Parking Assistant, available only on G29 as optional equipment 05DN Parking Assistant Plus, available on all models except G29 The CCM will not reset itself. It will be displayed each time the PDC is activated, even though the fault is no longer present. CAUSE Ultrasonic sensors, and/or software error in PDC control module. The following faults are logged based on the sequence of occurrence: 1. 0x803207 - sensor system: Extraneous noise detected 2. 0x803206 - sensor system: Blindness detected CORRECTION Run diagnosis with ISTA — If the faults are stored, but not currently active, follow SI B66 04 19. — If the faults are currently active (permanent), proceed with the steps outlined below in this SI. https://www.bmwtis.net/tiscode/cgi-bin/bulletin.aspx?sie_path=/tsb/bulletins/htm_store/504... 5/1/2019 TIS Service Bulletin Page 2 of 3 Work through the corresponding test module if necessary Program/encode the vehicle using ISTA 4.15.2x or higher — Target Integration level (I-level) S18A 18-11-549, or higher Always connect a BMW-approved battery charger/power supply (SIB04 23 10) when performing programming. For information on programming and coding with ISTA, refer to CenterNet / TIS / Technical Documentation / Programming and Diagnostics / Programming Documentation Note: Parts replacement will not provide a solution to this situation. During the same workshop visit, if a vehicle also requires another Technical Campaign or repair that also includes programming and encoding the control modules, the programming procedure may only be invoiced one time. Programming and Encoding - Vehicle Control Units A. The programming procedure automatically reprograms and encodes all vehicle control modules which do not have the latest software i-level. Please explain this additional work (The why and what) on the repair order and in the claim comments section. B. For control module failures that occurred “prior” to performing this programming procedure: • When “covered” under an applicable limited warranty, claim this control module-related repair work using the applicable defect code and labor operations (including diagnosis) in AIR/KSD2. *IMPORTANT: As with all work that is reimbursed by BMW, the repair order, time recording, and record keeping requirements outlined in the Warranty Policy and Procedures Manual must be strictly observed.
