All prices subject to change without notice. 05/2019 Service Information No. SI 52 001 19 C 400 X (K09, 0CC19) Replacing Seat Details As a part of the ongoing quality analysis, BMW Motorrad has found that the seat does not fulfill the requirements with respect to waterproofness, whereby water can penetrate into the helmet holder. Figure 1: Seat C 400 X Identification of the components The seats are indistinguishable externally. Mark the old seat before removal. Vehicles affected In order to determine if a specific vehicle is affected by this Technical Campaign, it will be necessary to verify all VIN’s through AIR (Aftersales Information Research). Based on the response of the system, either proceed with the repair or take no further action. Please note, VIN’s in DCS Vehicle History Check may not appear until 24-72 hours after the release of this bulletin, therefore AIR is the recommended method for determining open campaigns. Production Solution As of 10/24/2018 vehicles have been fitted with redesigned seats. Service Solution For affected vehicles prior to delivery or during the next workshop visit, the seat is to be renewed as per repair instructions 52 53 059 Renewing complete dualseat in AIR (Aftersales Information Research). Warranty processing Covered by the normal terms of the BMW New Motorcycle Limited Warranty. Defect code 00 52 01 00 00 Replacing seat FRU number *52 53 059 Renewing complete dualseat, 5 FRU’s +52 53 574 Renewing complete dualseat, 4 FRU’s *Main Work: These main labor operations include all repair procedures to complete the task with allowance for necessary ancillary tasks (e.g. visual inspection, lubrication, cleaning parts, use of thread-locking compound etc.) and administrative tasks. Only one main labor operation can be claimed per repair visit. All other labor operations for any other line(s) must be claimed using plus code labor operations. Please refer to the Warranty Policy and Procedures Manual regarding add-ons, proper support, documentation, claims submission and archiving requirements as applicable.
