Volvo Trucks North America Greensboro, NC USA Field Service Bulletin Trucks Date 5.2019 Group No. 891 021 Release Page 1 1(5) Center Fairing, Repair VN FSB 891-021, Center Fairing, Repair (May 2019) On some VOLVO trucks, the fixed chassis fairing rails can come loose from the truck. This is due to the fairing rails rubbing and thus wearing faster than acceptable. To correct this issue follow the instructions outlined in the documents below. Drill 2. 1 inch hole saw 3. 10 mm socket 4. 13 mm socket 5. 9 mm drill bit (11/32 inch) Required Parts Item Tool Part Number Quantity 1. M8 x 25 mm Flange Screw 984735 2 2. M8 x 22 mm Washer 994848 2 3. 10 mm socket 994535 2 Instructions 1 Decommission the vehicle. Install wheel chocks and disconnect the battery. W8146613 Item Measurement A 6 inches 4 Use the 1 inch hole saw to drill a hole 6 inches from each end of the lower support. Note: Make sure the pilot hole goes through both layers of the support. The hole saw should only go through the “hook” portion of the support. Note: Make sure the pilot hole is no bigger than 8 mm. Note: Do this for each end of the support. W8146616 Item Measurement A 9 mm hole 6 Place a bolt with washer through the fairing from the outboard side. W8146617 7 Use a flange lock nute on the back of the fairing support. 8 Torque to 16 ft-lbs.
