Issue: Some 2018-2019 Explorer/Flex/Taurus/MKT vehicles equipped with a 3.5L EcoBoost engine may
exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL), powertrain malfunction (wrench) lamp, Service
AdvanceTrac message, Hill Start Assist Not Available message, and/or lack of power with diagnostic
trouble codes (DTCs) P0107, P0108 and/or P0109 present. This may be due to a faulty manifold absolute
pressure and temperature (MAPT) sensor. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure steps to
diagnose and replace the MAPT sensor.
Action: Follow the Service Procedure to correct the condition on vehicles that meet all of the following
criteria:
• 2018-2019 Explorer/Flex/Taurus/MKT
• 3.5L EcoBoost engine
• Illuminated MIL, powertrain malfunction (wrench) lamp, Service AdvanceTrac message, Hill
Start Assist Not Available message, and/or lack of power
• DTCs P0107, P0108 and/or P0109

Service Procedure
1. Using the appropriate Ford diagnostic scan tool with key ON engine OFF, access the powertrain control
module (PCM) and monitor the following parameter identifications (PIDs):
• BARO (PRESS)
• MAP (PRESS)
• TCBP (PRESS)
• TURBO INLET (PRESS)
2. Does the MAP (PRESS) PID value read within 10.35 kPa (1.5 psi) of the other sensors?
(1). Yes - this article does not apply. Refer to Powertrain Control/Emission Diagnosis (PC/ED) Manual
for normal diagnostics.
(2). No - replace the MAPT sensor. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-14.
