CONDITION
The new 12V Battery Warranty Testers (DSS-5000 & DCA-8000) require certain information to
generate a test result and warranty code. Below is an explanation of what information is required
when testing a 12V battery on the new Warranty Battery Testers.
RECOMMENDATIONS

Capturing the vehicle’s VIN when using the DSS-5000 Handheld Battery Tester or the DCA8000 Diagnostic Charger is REQUIRED. In most cases, the VIN can be captured using the
camera or wireless bar code scanner.

When certain VINs are scanned on newer model vehicles, a message stating “VIN prefix not
found.” may appear, select “Continue” and the captured VIN should be populated in the “Edit
Battery Info” screen.

Newer model year vehicles may NOT prepopulate the vehicle information fields (Year, Make,
Model) on the “Edit Battery Info” screen, however, this information is NOT REQUIRED to
continue performing the test. (see image below)
