GENERAL MANAGER q PARTS MANAGER q q SERVICE INFORMATION BULLETIN APPLICABILITY: 2014-2019MY Forester 2013-2019 Crosstrek SUBJECT: NUMBER: 05-69-19 DATE: 07/23/19 Rear Subframe Bolts: Design Change INTRODUCTION: This Service Information Bulletin announces a change made to the rear subframe retaining bolts used on the models listed above. The design changes provide the bolt with an increased durability against rust. PRODUCTION CHANGE INFORMATION: The new subframe bolt has been incorporated into production as follows: Model Starting VIN Forester L*548410 Crosstrek L*337529 Subframe Flange Bolts PART INFORMATION: The part number for the new subframe flange bolt is 20058FL000. The changes made to the bolt (thicker flange and addition of a drainage groove) are shown in the photos below. REMINDER: Always order the most up-to-date replacement parts based on the specific VIN being repaired. Bulletin Number: 05-69-19; Date: 07/23/19 Page 1 of 2 SERVICE PROCEDURE / INFORMATION: REMINDER: Customer satisfaction and retention starts with performing quality repairs. The service procedure for replacing these bolts INCLUDING the torque specification of 145 Nm (107 ft. lbs.) remains unchanged. Always refer to the applicable Service Manual and review the full requirements of the repair being performed. The Service Manual procedures contain information critical to performing an effective repair the first time and every time. IMPORTANT NOTES: • These bolts are One-Time Use items. • These bolts are NOT interchangeable with those used at any other location on the vehicle. • If rust is identified on the original bolts, replace all 4 bolts with the new type as a set. Before installing the new bolts, always clean any remaining rust or corrosion from the top, bottom and cross member stoppers along with the subframe support surfaces. CAREFULLY touch-up any exposed bare metal surfaces with a rust-preventative aerosol spray paint.
