T-SB-0084-19 July 24, 2019 Carpet Pulling Out From Side Trim Service Category Vehicle Interior Section Interior Panels/Trim Market USA Applicability YEAR(S) MODEL(S) ADDITIONAL INFORMATION 2015 - 2019 Yaris Body Type(s): 5D, 5Dr. Hatch Back Introduction Some 2015 – 2019 model year Yaris vehicle passenger front, passenger rear, and/or driver rear doors may exhibit floor carpet that appears deformed or incorrect. When weight is applied on the floor near the door scuff plate, the carpet can be pulled out from behind it. Follow the Repair Procedure in this bulletin to address this condition. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle’s in-service date. Long and AT LEAST 2 in. Wide) 1 Hole Punch or Knife 1 Cable Tie 1* *Cable tie quantity may differ based on affected area. Refer to the Repair Procedure. Repair Procedure 1. Confirm the condition exists. Does the passenger front, passenger rear, and/or driver rear doors exhibit floor carpet that appears deformed or incorrect? YES — Continue to step 2. NO — This bulletin does NOT apply. Continue diagnosis using the applicable Repair Manual. Figure 1. Good Condition Figure 2. Not Good Condition 2. Remove the scuff plate from the lower doorjamb of the affected area. © 2019 Toyota Motor Sales, USA T-SB-0084-19 July 24, 2019 Page 3 of 4 Carpet Pulling Out From Side Trim Repair Procedure (continued) 3. Using a knife or hole punch, make a hole in the carpet just large enough to fit a cable tie through. (See Figures 3 and 4.) Passenger front: Three holes and three cable ties Passenger rear (left and right sides): One hole and one cable tie 4. Cut the 30 x 2-in. insulating felt or thick tape into five 6 x 2-in. pieces. 5. At each of the five cable tie locations, wrap the cut felt or tape completely around the conduit and the drain tube. 6. Route the cable tie underneath the conduit and through the punched hole in the carpet. Figure 3. Passenger Front 5 Figure 4. Close the cable tie and tighten it, making sure not to pinch the drain tube. 8. Cut the excess plastic off of the end of the cable tie. 9. Position the head of the cable tie between the conduit and the weatherstrip. 10. Reinstall the scuff plate to the lower doorjamb of the affected area(s). 11.
