Page 1 of 2 TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 2.7L/3.0L EcoBoost - Oil Pan Leaking 192249 09 August 2019 Model: Ford 2018-2019 Edge 2018-2019 Fusion Lincoln 2018-2019 Continental 2018 MKX 2018-2019 MKZ 2019 Nautilus Issue: Some 2018-2019 Edge/Continental/Fusion/MKZ, 2018 MKX, and 2019 Nautilus vehicles equipped with a 2.7L EcoBoost or 3.0L EcoBoost engine may exhibit an oil leak from the engine oil pan RTV seal. Action: This article applies to vehicles that meet all of the following criteria: • 2018-2019 Edge/Continental/Fusion/MKZ, 2018 MKX, or 2019 Nautilus • 2.7L/3.0L EcoBoost engine • Oil leak from the oil pan RTV seal Warranty Status: Information Only. Repair/Claim Coding Causal Part: INFO Condition Code: D8 Service Information Beginning in August 2019, vehicles equipped with a 2.7L EcoBoost or 3.0L EcoBoost engine are built with a new oil pan that uses a press-in-place gasket. The new oil pan is not yet available for service. The new oil pan with press-in-place gasket will be backwards compatible with 2018 and 2019 model year vehicles only. CAUTION: Do not use the oil pan with press-in-place gasket on 2015-2017 model year vehicles as this oil pan is not equipped with a positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) check valve. Installation of this oil pan on a 2015-2017 model year vehicle will result in oil consumption which may result in engine damage. For 2018-2019 vehicles originally built with an RTV sealed oil pan, continue servicing vehicles using the current service parts listed in the parts catalog. The RTV Sealing Surface Cleaning And Preparation procedure in the Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-00 has been updated for enhanced RTV adhesion. http://www.fordservicecontent.com/Ford_Content/vdirsnet/TSB/EU/~WTSB19-2249/US/E... 9/5/2019 Page 2 of 2 If a 2019 vehicle built with a press-in-place gasket oil pan requires removal of the oil pan for any reason, the gasket (part number JT4Z-6710-A) must be replaced. When installing the oil pan, apply an 18 mm (0.708 in) bead of Motorcraft® High Performance Engine RTV Silicone to the engine front cover-tocylinder block joint areas on the oil pan. Tighten the bolts in two stages. • Stage 1: 3.5 Nm (31 lb.in) • Stage 2: 10 Nm (89 lb.in) The WSM is in process of being updated.
