ADJUSTING THE ENTRANCE DOOR HINGE COVER PANEL
Description:
This adjustment procedure will correctly set the panel gap between the entrance door hinge cover
and the defroster cover panel on MY2018 J Coaches.
Read this entire procedure before beginning work.
Use Safe Shop Practices At All Times.
To avoid personal injury:
a. Turn the main battery disconnect switch to the OFF position.
b. Ensure that both the front and the rear wheels are chocked.
c. Positioning the ENGINE RUN and ENGINE START switches on the engine
compartment remote control box to the OFF position.
d. Allow enough time for components to cool down prior to working in the
engine compartment.

2.0 Special Tools
This rework requires the following tools which can be ordered from NF.parts
Lower spacer tool MCI P/N (T03-2969)
Upper spacer tool MCI P/N (T03-2970)
3.0 Rework Instructions
3.1 Remove the hinge cover
Fully open the entrance door and locate the two left side ratchet fasteners on the step
light panel, remove, and discard.

Locate and remove the hinge cover mounting screws. Retain the screws for use later.

3.2 Setting the gap between the cover and the defrost panel
Install the upper spacer tool T03-2970 between the hinge cover and the defrost panel.

Install the lower spacer tool T03-2969 between the hinge cover and the step edge
extrusion.

Ensure the right edge of the hinge panel is correctly set against the door.

Clamp the hinge trim panel to the upper and lower hinges.
3.2 Install the hinge cover
Using the existing mounting holes in the hinge cover panel as a template drill new .158”
dia. holes in the hinge, as required. Note: In some instances 1 of the mounting holes
may not need to be relocated.
Install the 3 mounting screws (from step 3.1) into the hinge panel cover.
Remove the clamps and spacer tools.
Panel gap should now be approximately 3/8” in the full open door position.
Install two new 19-04-0503 ratchet fasteners into the step light trim panel.

If needed use Rust-Oleum Wipe New finish restorer to remove any scratch marks from the
hinge cover panel
