J4500 Driver Defroster Condensation
Description:
This procedure outlines the steps to add a louver in the driver defroster panel to divert
condensation from driver defroster away from stepwell area.
This procedure applies to all J coaches starting MY2018.
Read this entire procedure before beginning work.
Use Safe Shop Practices at All Times.
To avoid personal injury:
a. Proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn. Safety glasses and
protective gloves are required for working with DEF Fluid.
b. Turn the main battery disconnect switch to the OFF position.
c. Ensure that both the front and the rear wheels are chocked.
d. Positioning the ENGINE RUN and ENGINE START switches on the engine
compartment remote control box to the OFF position.
e. Allow enough time for components to cool down prior to working in the engine
compartment.

Install the louver:
Remove and save the fabric panel of the defroster.
Remove and save
the fabric panel
Remove and save the 6 screws securing the defroster panel.
Remove and save
the screws

Place the louver on the HVAC unit opening as shown below.

Using 6 self-tapping screws, MCI P/N:19-1-1432, mount the louver, MCI P/N: T03-3079,
to the HVAC unit.

Install the defroster panel using the hardware removed earlier in Step-2.
