SUBJECT:
DD Platform Heavy Duty Oil Coolant Module and Oil Filter Change
ISSUE
A new oil coolant module has been implemented for GHG17 DD Platform Heavy Duty engines.
The module includes design changes to the oil filter, oil filter stand pipe, oil filter cap O-ring,
bottom plug, and ESOC fitting reducer (if equipped). Because of these changes, the new oil
filter is NOT BACKWARDS COMPATIBLE with prior oil coolant modules. The previous oil filter
is not compatible with the new oil coolant module.
The following table provides an implementation date and an associated engine serial number for
each new oil coolant module part number. There are six different oil coolant modules used to
cover different engine options. Refer to the sticker on the oil coolant module for the production
part number.

REQUIRED ACTION
The previous oil coolant module is no longer available for service. If a replacement oil
coolant module is required and all old stock has been exhausted, the engine will have to
be retrofitted with the new oil coolant module. If the prior oil coolant module was
equipped with an ESOC fitting, a new reducer fitting P/N A0019973376 and O-ring P/N
A0309972145 will be required. All other ESOC parts are unchanged.
Oil filter service kit p/n A4731800409 with oil filter p/n A4721841525 will remain
available for prior oil coolant modules.
The new oil filter service kit p/n A4711800009 contains oil filter p/n A4721841725, new
oil filter cap O-ring p/n A0299978845, and oil drain plug washer p/n N007603027100.
If the engine was retrofitted with the new oil coolant module, it will require the new style
oil filter for future oil filter changes via service kit A4711800009.
For oil coolant module service parts, including the oil filter, use the parts catalog as the
first source of information. However, for engines retrofitted to the new oil coolant
module, the parts catalog cannot be used to determine the proper oil filter. Verify by
using the oil coolant module part number or a visual inspection of the oil filter.
