Campaign No. 2014020002, February 2014 TO: ALL MERCEDES-BENZ CENTERS SUBJECT: Model 231 (SL), Model Year 2014 Insulate Washer Fluid Reservoir Wiring Harness This Service Campaign has been initiated because Daimler AG (DAG), the manufacturer of MercedesBenz vehicles, has determined that additional washer fluid reservoir wire harness insulation is required at the cable grommet. An authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer will install additional washer fluid reservoir wiring harness insulation at the next workshop visit. Prior to performing this Service Campaign: Please check VMI to determine if the vehicle is involved in the Campaign and if it has been previously repaired. Please review the entire Service Campaign bulletin and follow the repair procedure exactly as described. Approximately 225 vehicles are affected. Order No. P-SC-2014020002 This bulletin has been created and maintained in accordance with MBUSA-SLP S423QH001, Document and Data Control, and MBUSA-SLP S424HH001, Control of Quality Records. 2 Procedure 1. Remove windshield washer fluid reservoir (A, Figure 1), refer to WIS: AR82.35-P-6000RK. A Figure 1 Note (regarding above WIS instructions): Tire rotation does not apply to this campaign. Collect windshield washer fluid and reuse (pour fluid through a strainer when refilling reservoir). Do not remove windshield washer pump(s) from reservoir. Ensure wiring harness is dry before applying tape (tape will not adhere to a wet harness). Ensure windshield washer fluid does not spill on harness. Perform campaign prior to topping off windshield washer fluid. 2. Seal (wrap) wiring harness for washer fluid reservoir (A, Figure 1) from A-pillar grommet to washer fluid reservoir with PVC plastic adhesive tape in marked area (Figure 2). Figure 2 P-SC- 2014020002 3 Note: Ensure that there is an overlap with the grommet (Figure 3). There must also be an overlap of at least 50 % at the windings. Figure 3 3. Additionally, wrap G12 fabric tape around the wiring harness along the entire length of the PVC plastic adhesive tape. 4. Assemble in the reverse order. Note (regarding referenced WIS instructions): Windshield wiper fluid is shop supply. Primary Parts Information Qty. Repairs performed using any other part(s) will not have been performed in accordance with the campaign. Accordingly, warranty claims submitted with reference to an improper part number(s) will be denied.
