Campaign No. 2013070001, July 2013 TO: ALL MERCEDES-BENZ CENTERS SUBJECT: Model 906, Model Year 2013 Rework Seal Seam on Emergency Exit Window This Sprinter Service Campaign has been initiated because Daimler AG (DAG), the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz and Freightliner Sprinter vehicles, has determined that due to a factory process change the seam seal on the Emergency Exit window may be incomplete which could allow moisture to enter the interior of the vehicle. An authorized Sprinter dealer will rework the Emergency Exit window seal seam at the next workshop visit. Prior to performing this Service Campaign: Please check VMI to determine if the vehicle is involved in the Campaign and if it has been previously repaired. Please review the entire Service Campaign bulletin and follow the repair procedure exactly as described. Approximately 125 vehicles are affected. Order No. V-SC-2013070001 This bulletin has been created and maintained in accordance with MBUSA-SLP S423QH001, Document and Data Control, and MBUSA-SLP S424HH001, Control of Quality Records. 2 Procedure Figure 1 1. Move locks (1, Figure 1) to upright (unlock) position to open. Note: The retainers (2) will be destroyed when handles are pulled up. 2. Remove retainer (2, Figure 1) pieces from holes. 3. Open window (3, Figure 1) and support window with (under hoist type) jack stand. Note: Do not open window (3, Figure 1) more than 90°angle otherwise the window (3) could get damaged. Be careful not to damage exterior paint when positioning jack stand near vehicle. 4. Pull off seal (4, Figure 1) at the top and the sides (area A, Figure 1) from the window flange. 5. Complete the existing sealing seam between sidewall paneling (6, Figure 1) and inner part of sidewall (5) at the sides and top (area, A). Note: Allow seam seal at the existing sealing seam to run out. 6. Spread sealing seam. Note: Clean-off any excess sealing seam that may get on window (etc.). 7. Allow sealing seam to dry for approx. 20 minutes. 8. Re-install seal (4, Figure 1). 9. Close window (3, Figure 1). 10. Close locks (1, Figure 1). 11. Insert new retainers (2, Figure 1). Repairs performed using any other part(s) will not have been performed in accordance with the campaign. Accordingly, warranty claims submitted with reference to an improper part number(s) will be denied.
