Issue: Some 2018-2020 F-150/Expedition/Navigator/F-Super Duty vehicles built on or after 31-Aug-2018
may exhibit a water leak on the right front floor during or after the air conditioning (A/C) is used. This may
be due to condensation from the evaporator drain tube entering the vehicle through the drain tube seal. To
correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure steps to install an elbow on the evaporator drain tube
to direct condensation away from the seal.
Action: Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition on vehicles that meet all of the
following criteria:
• 2018-2020 F-150/Expedition/Navigator/F-Super Duty
• Built on or after 31-Aug-2018
• Water leak on right front floor during or after A/C use

Service Procedure
WARNING: The vehicle should be cool enough to touch before performing this procedure.
1. Raise the vehicle and remove the right front tire.
2. Remove the right front fender splash shield. Refer to the Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 501-02.
3. Using needle nose pliers or equivalent, remove and discard the metal shield from the evaporator drain
tube by bending the tabs away from the tube. (Figures 1-3)

4. Lubricate the inside of the elbow with water. Install the short end of the elbow onto the drain tube.

5. Clean the surface of the elbow, drain seal, and surrounding sheet metal with isopropyl alcohol or
equivalent.
6. Apply heat shield tape over the elbow as shown in Figure 6.

7. Reinstall the right front fender splash shield and right front tire and lower the vehicle. Refer to the WSM,
Section 501-02.
NOTE: Make sure to inspect the carpet for dampness and/or odor and service as necessary.
