Classification: Reference: Date: EL19-048 ITB19-039 November 13, 2019 2019 QX30; CLOCK RESETS AFTER EACH IGNITION CYCLE APPLIED VEHICLE: 2019 QX30 (H15) APPLIED VIN: Vehicles built on or after SJK(*)H5(***)KA 010351 APPLIED DATE: Vehicles built on or after November 19, 2018 IF YOU CONFIRM The clock has to be reset each time the ignition is turned OFF, and then ON again. The ignition may need to be OFF for at least 15 minutes for the incident to occur. ACTION Install a blue fuse holder to the fuse, fusible link and relay box (fuse block), and then move and rewire a fuse from fuse position # 42 to # 55. For blue fuse holder install and fuse rewire, refer to SERVICE PROCEDURE on page 3. IMPORTANT: The purpose of ACTION (above) is to give you a quick idea of the work you will be performing. You MUST closely follow the entire SERVICE PROCEDURE as it contains information that is essential to successfully completing this repair. See your Infiniti retailer to determine if this applies to your vehicle. 1/12 SPECIAL TOOL Flameless Heat Gun J-46538 J-46538 Figure 1 Tool J-46538 is available from TECH•MATE: 1-800-662-2001 or nissantechmate.com. 2/12 ITB19-039 SERVICE PROCEDURE Add Blue Fuse Holder, Reposition and Rewire Fuse # 42 1. Disconnect both main battery cables, negative cable first, at least 30 seconds after the ignition has been turned OFF. 2. Wait at least three (3) minutes before continuing to step 2. Remove the two (2) clips, pull down to unsnap the pawl, and then pull the lower cover rearward. Glove box Lower cover Clip Pawl Clip 3. Figure 3 3/12 ITB19-039 4. Unfasten the locks, and then remove the flitter cover. Lock Flitter cover Figure 4 5. Unfasten the locks, and then remove the sub battery cover. Sub battery cover Figure 5 4/12 ITB19-039 6. Disconnect both sub battery cables, negative cable first. Sub battery Figure 6 7. Remove the three (3) nuts and one clip. 8. After removing the clip, remove the small cover. Cover Small cover Figure 7 5/12 ITB19-039 9. Pull out the fuse block, and then remove the cover. 10. Locate the yellow wire going to fuse # 42, and then cut it where shown in Figure 5. Cut yellow wire here Blue 15 amp fuse # 42 Figure 8 6/12 ITB19-039 11. Place the blue fuse holder with yellow wire onto the fuse block but DO NOT snap it in place. The blue fuse holder with yellow wire is included in the Rework Harness Kit. See PARTS INFORMATION on the last page of this bulletin. 12. Strip off about 10 mm (3/8 in) of insulation from the end of each yellow wire. Stripped wire end Blue fuse holder – NOT snapped in Stripped wire end Figure 9 7/12 ITB19-039 13. Slide a solder sleeve connector over the longer yellow wire. For solder sleeve connectors, see PARTS INFORMATION on the last page of this bulletin. HINT: Be sure to perform step 13 before step 14. 14. Twist together the exposed portions of both yellow wires. Yellow Wires Figure 10 15. Position the solder sleeve connector’s solder ring with the center of the twisted wiring. Figure 11 8/12 ITB19-039 16. Install the solder sleeve connector by shrinking it to the yellow wire with Flameless Heat Gun J-46538 or equivalent tool. HINT: Installing the solder sleeve connector will: Melt the solder ring into the exposed twisted wire. Melt the sealant (red rings inside the solder sleeve connector) onto the wire. Shrink the solder sleeve connector body to the wire. Use Flameless Heat Gun J-46538 or equivalent tool only. Do NOT use an electric type soldering tool in step 16. It may create a current that can cause damage to an ECU(s). Yellow Wire Yellow Wire Figure 12 17. Snap in place the blue fuse holder by pressing it into the fuse block. Solder sleeve connector Figure 13 9/12 ITB19-039 18. Fasten the yellow wire to existing wires on the backside of the fuse block. Use the cloth tape that is included in the Rework Harness Kit (see PARTS INFORMATION on the last page of this bulletin). Figure 14 10/12 ITB19-039 19. Move the 15 amp fuse from position # 42 (old position) to # 55 (new position, in the blue fuse holder). Figure 15 20. Reassemble the vehicle in reverse order of disassembly. Reconnect the backup battery cables, positive cable first. Fuse box nuts torque: 9-11 N•m (0.9-1.1 kg-m, 80-97 in lbs) Reconnect the under-hood battery cables, positive cable first. 21. Reset the clock, and then turn OFF the ignition. 22.
