Solution
Verify the chassis emissions level and ensure that the vehicle is within the
applicable range for this solution.
- Details can be found in the Product Details box on the Product tab in PTT as seen
below:
Review the Detailed Status Information for the relevant code on the DTC Readout.
A. Software improvements have been made that address this DTC:
1. Product Improvement PI0883 Engine Control Module (ECM) and Aftertreatment
Control Module (ACM), Software Updates was released July 2018. This service
program should appear under the Campaigns section of the Product screen of
Premium Tech Tool (PTT) when first connecting to the vehicle
- The Product Improvement document can be found on the dealer Mack Trucks
eMedia.
• Note: There will be a prompt to sign in to the Trucks Dealer Portal site if
necessary.
• Searching for PI0883 will return a link to the bulletin.
2. If there are no other concerns, release the vehicle after the campaign is completed.
B. If the Product Improvement does not apply to the chassis or there are possible
related symptoms:
1. Check the Main Software (MSW) part number for the Engine Control Module
(EMS).
• If the software part number is less than 23033425, update the EMS software.
• NOTE: Software updates will not resolve physical symptoms. If there are any
concerns with operation, appropriate diagnostics will need to be performed.
2. Make sure to inspect the crankcase ventilation (CCV) system for any leaks or
disconnected components. Repair any concerns located.
3. Make sure that engine oil is not increasing with time. If engine oil is rising, the
cause should be diagnosed independently of P04DB.
C. If software is current and there are no physical issues located:
1. Clear the code and release the vehicle.
